Active Stillness
My exhibition of new work Active Stillness will be at Bradford University’s Gallery 11.
Active Stillness has many associations with meditation. For me it is a recognisable practice in my photography.
The exhibition will seek to explore how everyday environments can cloud what is deemed to be our spiritual side. It will be looking at what shifts in interpretation or transformation of thought deliver a renewal in our perceptions.
Liz Almond through her new writing will contribute to these themes and ideas. Virginia Woolf’s quote “It is in our idleness, our dreams, that the submerged truth sometimes comes to the top.”, holds something of what I am thinking about.
The exhibition has been programmed for March 2012. It will form part of the University’s annual Peace Jam event and visiting Nobel Peace Laureate’s lecture. This time round Adolfo Perez Esquivel will be giving the lecture.
